The term was first coined in 2008 and it is considered a modern type of pho KW - nomophobia and psychosocial effects KW - and nomophobia and physical health in young adults. Findings: The initial literature corpus consisted of 370 articles of which 40 met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed in detail. Nomophobia was observed among 15.2%-99.7% of the participants. R KW - emotional KW - social KW - and physical side effects due to excessive smartphone use. Conclusion: The excessive use of the smartphone is an emerging threat for social KW - mental KW - and physical health.
